Tales and Ales!

Anam Cara Theatre Company Presents. . .Tales and Ales!

An open-mic-style night of storytelling and good brews, hosted by Charlie Moore and Emily Wooton.

Event is FREE.

Come to The Anam Cara Collective on Cinco de Mayo and hear some humorous stories--and maybe even tell one of your own! It can be embarassing, stupid, or crazy-- but anyone can take the mic to tell one.

If that isn't good enough there will also be beer from the Asheville Brewing Company and wine available for a suggested donation.

We hope to see you there!

8, The Play

Asheville Folks, we're hoping you can help spread the word about this important upcoming production!

Next week, Artistic Director Erinn Huntley will appear in a staged reading of “8”, a play written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) Founding Board Member Dustin Lance Black.  It is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry.

Black, who penned the Academy Award-winning feature film "Milk" and the new critically-acclaimed film "J. Edgar," based “8” on the actual words of the trial transcripts, first-hand observations of the courtroom drama and interviews with the plaintiffs and their families.  AFER has licensed several readings across the state as a way of engaging people before North Carolina votes on its own marriage amendment known locally as "Amendment One".

The Asheville performance will be Tuesday, April 10 at 7 PM at Diana Wortham Theatre and is a benefit fundraiser for the American Foundation for Equal Rights. Tickets are $15 Regular/$10 Students and can be purchased at the DWT Box Office online, over the phone, and in person.

North Carolina Stage Company, director Angie Flynn-McIver, and the Diana Wortham Theatre have gathered a wide range of actors from all over Asheville to participate with help from lots of other theatre companies from around the city, including Anam Cara.  We'd love to have your help spreading the word via email, social media, word of mouth, and whatever else you can muster.
