Crave
Anam Cara’s latest production, Crave, will run at the end of this month for one weekend only. Performances will be held at Toy Boat
Community Arts Space (101 Fairview
Road , Asheville )
April 26 - 28 at 8 p.m.
Crave is a
non-linear, emotionally intense and deeply psychological play exploring the
troubled, desperate minds of four illusive characters (named only A, B, C and
M). Through its stream-of-consciousness
style fragments and images, Crave communicates
directly with the inner psyche of audience members in an unmediated, visceral, and
poetic manner, creating a theatre-going experience that is markedly personal
and engaging. With Crave, British playwright Sarah Kane captures much of the longing
and the torment that led her to take her own life at the age of 28, having
already amassed a reputation for her ground-breaking yet irreverent works.
Skillfully led by director Erinn Huntley, Anam Cara’s
talented cast brings this abstract and evocative script to life using strong
elements of physical theatre. “I’ve
never done anything quite as emotionally intuitive and experimental a Crave,” confides Dahlia Legault, who
plays C. “I love theatre that pushes the boundaries of realities and thus makes
us put our own into question, and Crave
is definitely a production that does so.”
